Meet the Team

Our aim is to produce consistently outstanding meat. This is only possible with continual investment within the business, having some of the best suppliers in the country, having the enjoyment of working in the industry and having some fantastic colleagues. We can’t list everyone; below are some key members of the team.

Matthew Alden

Managing Director

Matthew is the great (x7) grandson of Isaac Alden (who founded the Firm in 1793); I think it’s fair to say Matthew was at some point going to join the family butchers.

After finishing his schooling in Oxford Matthew moved to Cheltenham to complete his degree at the University of Gloucestershire. From here Matthew went to work for Leith’s giving him a valuable insight into different aspects of catering and the supply chain.

In 1999 Matthew moved back to Oxford to work at Aldens. In 2001 Matthew helped Aldens achieve the higher level BRC accreditation (and to date remained unbroken). Matthew was appointed MD of Aldens in 2003 and has spearheaded the growth from 6 to 85 employees while maintaining the high standards Aldens have become known for.

Matthew is keen on anything sporty with a particular love for “real tennis” where he holds a world record. Matthew also enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family.

Sam Mani


Sam started his meat industry in 1989 Sam when he was an apprentice a butcher for Wirral’s in Birmingham.

He then took up a butchery role with Gordon North Butchers in Southam. After overseeing the successful supply of chilled meat to the Hilton Hotel Group, Sam was appointed general manager in 2000

In 2003 Sam joined Aldens as production manager and has been instrumental in constantly improving on operating efficiency, developing an excellent supplier base and sourcing wonderful produce from UK and beyond.

Sam is a keen “chef” and has recently taken up running.

Sue Davies

Management Accountant

Sue joined Aldens in 2004 and has seen many changes within the Company; not least in the accounts department with many IT accountancy changes.

Sue is responsible for all creditors and debtor transactions.

Away from work Sue loves dressage and is an accomplished horse rider.

Samantha Bunce

Sales Administrator & Office Manager

Samantha has always been involved in customer service throughout her career. Samantha joined Aldens in 2016 and professionalised the office almost overnight!

Samantha prides herself of expert customers service and has the enviable skill of always staying cool under pressure.

Outside of work Samantha loves nothing more than spending time with her husband and daughter (and her two yellow Labradors).

Claire Moody

Sales Administrator

Claire joined Aldens in 2017. Claire immediately connects with customers often going above and beyond the call of duty.

Claire oversees all online orders and is a phone call away from solving and answering questions customers may have.

Claire loves to travel and enjoys a good crime novel.

Mariusz Sniezek

Logistics Co-ordinator & Safety Officer

Simon Warren

Sales Manager

Simon is originally from Witney, Oxfordshire. Simon first started in the meat industry back in the early 1990’s with DBC where he quickly established himself as a successful sales manager. After working in other areas within the industry Simon joined Aldens in October 2013 and established strong links with new and existing customers. Simon has transformed the sales department concentrating on product quality, service levels and communication.

Simon is always on the end of the phone but when he does have time off, he enjoys spending time with his wife and loves to watch Arsenal play as often as possible


Cleaning Team

Nik is Oxford born and bred joined Aldens in 2018. Niks eye for detail is second to none. Nik ensures all cleaning HACCP’s are checked and records maintained.

Nik, Bruno and Marcio are Covid-19 trained and continue to give staff and customers confidence ensuring all surfaces are always thoroughly sanitised.


Cleaning Team

Marcio’s homeland is Brazil but has lived in England for the last 7 years. Joining the Aldens cleaning team in 2019 Marcio has raised the standards even higher.

Nik, Bruno and Marcio are Covid-19 trained and continue to give staff and customers confidence ensuring all surfaces are always thoroughly sanitised.
